Summary:Originating from Italy, Cittaslow is slow-themed alternative regional development. Cittaslow stress more resident oriented development approach rather than local government’s involvement. Moreover, software approach such as resident education and training are preferred in order to lead more creative and sustainable campaign. Since the campaign has introduced to Korea since 2008, over 16 cities or counties successfully accrued their membership. Not in congruent with its brand name, “Slow”, fast spread of movement in Korea is closely related to the marginality of top down style regional development. Tourism study gained its initiative in Cittaslow research, yielding substantial degree dissertations and articles. Objective of study is to review the research accomplishment and to suggest future orientation. 31 Cittaslow related articles’ abstracts, included in KCI were reviewed issued from 2008 to 2020 and 10 of most frequently cited concepts were found such as tourism, region, effect, resident and sustainability etc. Even though Cittaslow was designed to evoke the resident initiative and hosting the guests is one of membership requirement but tourism is overly focused and some of apprehensions over negative effects to host community was brought. Limitation and managerial significances were included in the end of paper. KCI Citation Count: 1
