Summary:The Economic Interdependence and Foreign Policy in China's Reform EraThe main subject of this paper is to look at the changes in the domestic economic development strategy and to reflect on the making and implementation of foreign policy and its changes during the course of China's prospect in becoming an economic power.Since the implementation of the Open Policy in China in 1978, the construction of the Chinese economy has made great achievements. The rapid growth of the Chinese economy has led to the rise of China's political power and the appearance of China's latent military power. What effects will the development of the Chinese economy have on the international community, especially the security and the stability of the Asia Pacific region? Such questions are the center of concern and discussion in this thesis. After 1978, the core of the modernization strategy was to develop the coastal areas, to open up China to the outside world, and to decentralize powers in economic and administrative area. China has already entered into a interdependent system with the international economy through its modernization strategy. China seeks to preserve the relationship with neighboring countries through the effective management of economic interdependence. China intend to modernize its economy, thereby enhancing state power and to lessen security concerns, and ultimately to make ground for reunification through the increased economic interdependence.
