Summary:We report a 43-year old woman patient presented with contralateral trigeminal neuralgia induced by tactile stimulation and mastication after Bell’s palsy. Trigeminal neuralgia is characterized by recurrent episodes of intense lancinating pain affecting the face localized to the sensory supply areas of the trigeminal nerve. Increased excitability of facial motor neurons and bainstem interneurons which mediate trigemio-facial reflex are thought to be the cause of contralateral trigeminal neuralgia after Bell’s palsy.
