부산항 컨테이너화물의 항만물류가지역경제에 미치는 파급효과

This paper analyses the economic impacts of container freight activities in Busan port on the regional economy of Busan in South Korea by using survey data on the regional port-logistic firms and the Busan I-O model. The main findings show that during the period from 2010 to 2013 a yearly average of KRW 4,230 billion production, KRW 980 billion value-added and 11,100 employed people in the Busan regional shipping and port industry resulted from container freight activities in Busan port. And these economic impacts on the shipping and port industry increased the production by KRW 7,380 billion, the value-added by KRW 2,500 billion and the employment by 36,100 persons in Busan economy as a whole in yearly average during the period from 2010 to 2013, which accounted for about 5.5% of total production, about 4.4% of value added, and about 2.1% of employments of Busan economy in those years, respectively. Considering the dominant share of container freights in the total freights transported in Busan port, these economic impacts are far less than expected. So, it is urgent to give more efforts to increase the economic impacts of container freight activities in Busan port. KCI Citation Count: 4
