수학교육학 연구 방법의 다양성과 포용성을 향하여

본 고의 주된 목표는 수학교육학 연구논문의 심사평에서 간혹 나타나곤 하는, 특정 연구 방법에 대한 형식적 고착에 대해 비판적인 관점을 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해 과학적 실재론과 실증주의 전통에 기반을 둔 과학적 연구 방법에 대한 신뢰가 어떠한 이유로 수학교육학계에 형성된 것인지를, 수학교육학의 학문성을 찾아나가는 여정으로부터 되짚어 고찰한다. 그리고 교수학적 분석, 자문화기술지, 예술 기반 연구 등 다양한 질적 연구 방법을 적용한 수학교육학 연구논문의 사례를 통해 수학교육학 연구 방법과 가치를 바라보는 시선이 확장될 필요가 있음을 논한다. 이로써 수학교육학의 학문적 생태계가 안정적으로 유지, 성장하기 위해서는 연구 방법의 다양성을 존중하는 포용적인 자세가 수학교육학자에게 필요함을 제언한다. This paper critically examines the rigid adherence to specific research methodologies during the peer review process for mathematics education research papers. To this end, the study traces the development of trust in natural science research methods, which are grounded in scientific realism and the positivist tradition. The study examines how this trust has taken hold within the mathematics education community in the broader context of the discipline’s pursuit of academic legitimacy. The paper emphasizes broadening perspectives on research methods and values in mathematics education, drawing on studies employing qualitative methodologies such as didactic analysis, autoethnography, and arts-based research. The paper emphasizes that to sustain and foster the academic ecosystem of mathematics education, scholars must adopt an inclusive attitude that respects methodological diversity. KCI Citation Count: 0
