다문화교육에 대한 율곡 소통론의 적용점 고찰

이 글은 율곡 이이의 회통사상에 전제된 소통론을 다문화교육에 철학적으로 적용하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 다문화교육이 가진 문화 다원주의적 특성과 타 문화에 대한 존중의 정신, 그리고 평등한 공존과 평화로운 공존의 방향성을 먼저 논하였다. 다음으로 율곡의 소통론이 가진 학문적 개방성을 논하며, 율곡의 사상이 차이성의 공존과 조화를 지향하였음을 논하였다. 율곡은 학문적, 정치적 이분법에 매이지 않았다. 인간의 보편적 도덕성을 실현해야 한다는 관점에서 여러 이론을 조화로운 시선으로 바라보았다. 율곡은 차이의 조화를 통해 사회 구성원 간의 진정한 소통과 사회적 통합을 지향하였다. 율곡의 사상이 지향하는 소통과 통합의 방향성을 다문화교육에 적용한다면, 구성원 간 경청의 자세가 강조된다. 다문화교육은 경청에 대한 강조를 통해 열린 마음, 존중하는 마음을 함양하는 교육의 방향성을 가질 수 있다. 다음으로 율곡의 사상에서 보이는, 인간의 도덕적 본성에 대한 강조가 다문화교육에 적용될 수 있다. 인간의 보편적 도덕성은 서로 다른 문화권의 사람들이 연대하게 할 수 있는 요소가 된다. 그리고 율곡 사상에서 보이는 인간과 자연의 유기적 연결성에 관한 사유는 다문화교육 참여자들로 하여금 생태의식을 함양할 수 있게 한다. 오늘날 전 지구적 차원으로 급부상한 생태 문제에 대하여 문화 간 연대를 가능하게 할 수 있는 것이다. 율곡의 사상은 문화 간 다툼과 반목을 이겨내고, 도덕성으로부터 연유한 보편적 가치들을 추구하게 하는 방향으로 다문화교육에 적용할 수 있는 것이다. This study aims to philosophically apply the theory of communication premised on Yulgok Lee-Yi’s Huitong thought to multicultural education. To this end, the cultural pluralistic characteristics of multicultural education, the spirit of respect for other cultures, and the direction of equal and peaceful coexistence were first discussed. Next, we discussed the academic openness of Yulgok's theory of communication and discussed that Yulgok's ideology aimed for the coexistence and harmony of differences. Yulgok was not bound by academic and political dichotomy. From the point of view that universal morality of human being must be realized, various theories were viewed from a harmonious perspective. Yulgok aimed for true communication and social integration among members of society through the harmony of differences. When the direction of communication and integration aimed at by Yulgok's ideology is applied to multicultural education, the attitude of listening among members is emphasized. Multicultural education can have an educational direction that fosters an open mind and a respectful mind through an emphasis on listening. Next, the emphasis on moral nature of human being shown in Yulgok's thoughts can be applied to multicultural education. Universal morality of human being becomes an element that people from different cultures can unite. In addition, the thinking about the organic connection between humans and nature seen in Yulgok's ideology enables participants in multicultural education to cultivate ecological consciousness. It is possible to enable intercultural solidarity on ecological issues that have emerged at the global level today. Yulgok's idea can be applied to multicultural education in the direction of overcoming disputes and antagonisms between cultures and pursuing universal values derived from morality.
