번역학에서의 창조성 문제

야콥슨(Roman Jakobson)이 말하듯이, ‘차이 속에서의 등가’는 ‘언어의 중심 문제이며 언어학의 핵심적 대상’이다. 텍스트 번역이 중심 문제인 번역학에서도 ‘등가’는 핵심적 대상이다. 언어간 ‘차이’로 인한 ‘제약’ 속에서‘등가의 구축’은 번역이 해결해야 할 핵심적 과제이고, ‘창조성’은 그래서번역학의 핵심적 문제로 대두된다. 이 글에서는 먼저, ‘창조성’ 문제에 대한 서구 번역학에서의 여러 논의들을 살펴본다(2-6). 다음으로, 한강의 채식주의자 에 대한 번역비평들도 포함하는, 창조성과 관련된 우리 번역학 담론에 대해 기술한다(7). 마지막으로, 어린 왕자 와 이방인 의 번역들을 통해, 텍스트 차원의 상실과 상쇄, 등가 문제를 고찰한다(8). 우리 번역학에 현재 시급히 요구되는 것은 문학번역들에서의 ‘창조성’(작품성)에 대한 아주 광범위하고 다양한 비교 분석들이다. As says Roman Jakobson, ‘Equivalence in differences’ is the central problem of language and the essential object of linguistics. Also in Translation Studies where textual translation is the central problem, Equivalence is the essential object. The construction of Equivalence, due to linguistic differences between languages is the essential task of translation, and thus ‘Creativity’ becomes the essential problem of Translation Studies. In this article, first, we observe the question of Creativity in several Western Translation Studies(2-6). Next, we describe Korean Translation Studies Discourses on Creativity, including Translation Critiques about The Vegetarian by Han Kang(7). Lastly, we consider the problem of Loss, Compensation and Equivalence on textual level, through the translations of Antoine Saint-Exupéry's Le Petit Prince and Albert Camus's L’Étranger(8). What is needed urgently now in Korean Translation Studies is very extensive and various Comparative Analyses about ‘Creativity’(Artistic quality) in Literary Translations. KCI Citation Count: 0
