Summary: | This paper provides supporting evidence that, as Chung (2008) claimed, anaphoric links in subordinate structures should be analyzed in an analogous way as those in conditional and quantificational structures. It shows that the restrictor discourse representation structures introduced by subordinate conjunctions plays a role of an island which blocks any quantification or conditional operator inside it from introducing its own restrictor discourse representation structure out of it. It also shows that different grammatical judgements of different speakers can be explained in terms of different ways of applying discourse representation structure construction rules or constraints.
