문해력 기반의 통합적 고전읽기 교육 설계 고찰－<명저읽기> 수업 사례를 바탕으로

본 연구는 문해력 향상을 위한 효과적인 고전읽기 교육 설계 방안 제시를 목적으로 한다. 인공지능, 빅데이터, 사물인터넷 등으로 대표되는 4차 산업혁명으로 인해 모든 것이 연결되는 초(超)연결 시대가 펼쳐지고 있다. 이로 인해 타인과의 소통과 협업이 중요해지면서 글을 읽고 이해하고 판단하며, 본인의 견해를 자유롭게 표현할 수 있는 문해력(Literacy)의 중요성이 날로 높아지고 있다. 하지만 최근 우리나라 학생들의 문해력 저하 현상은 심각한 교육 및 사회 문제로 대두되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 대학의 고전읽기 교과목을 통한 문해력 향상 방안을 탐색해보았다. 우선 노자의 도덕경(道德經)으로 <명저읽기> 수업을 진행한 실제 사례를 바탕으로, ‘읽기-말하기-듣기-쓰기’의 활동이 통합적으로 구성된 단계별 교육 활동을 제시하였다. 특히 본고는 그룹 활동 위주의 토론이 주가 되는 선행연구와 달리 개인별 말하기와 듣기, 그리고 읽기와 쓰기 활동이 혼합된 교육안을 제시해 보았다. 그리고 설문조사를 통해 대면과 비대면 방식으로 동일한 과목을 수강한 학생들의 주관적인 인식을 비교해보았다. 분석 결과 학생들은 수업 방식과 관계없이 통합적인 수업 활동에 전반적으로 긍정적인 반응을 보였지만, 향후 교수자 주도 강의와 토론 게시판 활동의 보완이 필요함을 확인할 수 있었다. 그리고 학생들은 본 수업 활동이 특히 ‘의사소통, 자기주도, 문제해결’ 등의 핵심역량 향상에 도움이 된다고 생각하는 것 또한 파악할 수 있었다. The purpose of this study is to present the education design measures required for effective classics reading for the improvement of literacy. Due to the 4th Industrial Revolution, including the emergence of artificial intelligence, big data, and IoT, we are facing a hyper-connected era in which everything is interlinked. With the increased importance of communication and collaboration with others, the importance of literacy to freely express one’s own opinions after reading, understanding, and judging certain writings is also becoming more important. Recently, however, the declining literacy level of Korean students is increasing and is now becoming a serious educational and social problem. Thus, this study explored the measures needed for improving the literacy level of students through the college subject of classics reading. First, this study presented the phased educational activities inclusively composed of ‘reading-speaking-listeningwriting’ activities based on the actual case of the class <Masterpiece Reading> with Lao-tzu’s <Tao Te Ching>. In particular, contrary to preceding research focusing on group discussion, this thesis presented the education design mixed with individual speaking/listening activities, as well as reading/writing activities. Furthermore, by conducting a survey this study compared the subjective perception of students who took the same course in the face-to-face and non-face-to-face methods. From the results of the analysis, overall the students showed positive responses to the integrated class activities regardless of class method. However, the results showed that it would still be necessary to complement the professor-led lecture and debate bulletin board. Also, the students thought that the activities in this class were helpful for the improvement of competencies like ‘communication, self-directedness, and problem-solving’. KCI Citation Count: 0
