Summary:The Climate and Air Group under Nordic Council of Ministers supports the work within the Convention on Long-Range Transport of Air Pollution (CLRTAP). It has promoted science and policy tools including atmospheric transport and deposition models, and concepts such as Critical Loads, Gap Closure and the Multi-pollutant and -effect approach. This has also been important for policies in the European Union. There is a growing need to further support CLRTAP and the EU in particular in view of the interdependencies between air pollution and climate change. The workshop on future strategies held in Oslo 9-10 October 2008, concluded that there is growing evidence that air pollution in many regions significantly influences climate change and that climate change will influence the occurrence and effects of atmospheric pollutants. This report compiles the main findings and recommendations.
