Summary:We have developed a RI data processing system using a 8K words minicomputer as its central processing unit. A gamma camera and a 3 scanner have their own imput interface, and a whole body counter and a 4 channnels renograph are connected to C. P. U. through a sequential input interface. A high speed magnetic tape unit is used as a supplement of core memory and a long term data storage. The processed data are displayed in a CRT and a X-Y plotter or by digital type out. Several examples of the processed data are presented, out of 90 neurosurgical cases we have examined with this system. Oldendorfs mean transit time is obtained very easily with this system, from the differential curve of smoothed radioencephalogram with a colimeter placed on the patients head, at the time of IV administration of radio nuclide prior to the brain scanning. The output from the pulse height analyser of the scanner is stored in each address as the counts during 1.5 mm of scanning movement of the detector. During the spacing movement of the detector, one line of data just stored in the core memory are transfered to the magnetic tape unit and stored in it as unprocessed primary data. On processing, these data are compressed into a 64 × 64 matrix as the counts of 3 × 3 mm or 3 × 4.5 mm elements. Storage of unprocessed primary data enables us to interprete them with optimal processing later on, by trial and error, and shows a definite advantage especially in long term follow up of one case.
