Summary:This article examines the contribution of the bilingual school for Jews and Arabs in Israel, to the education of equal citizenship. Studies on such schools were made in Israel, either with respect to bilingual learning or with respect to the challenges school staff face during conflictual memorial days. This article examines the school from holistic standpoint, and thereby discusses its general ends-education for equal citizenship in an education system that aims to sustain socio-economic and political Jewish hegemony. In this manner the gaps between Arab and Jewish citizens remains broad in favor of the Jews. However, findings indicate that education for equal citizenship is progressive. It is reflected, primarily, in an equal organizational structure, and in subject-matter contents which represent both nations equally. Nevertheless, a more profound examination unfolds that in each aspect we have studied, school needs to cope with complicated challenges that deprive the progress toward materializing its vision and destination.
