Summary: | Through a detailed analysis of pottery from Mut al-Kharab and numerous other sites in the oasis I have identified the key characteristics of Ptolemaic Period pottery production in Dakhleh. Whilst previous studies were hindered by the lack of well-dated stratified deposits of Ptolemaic pottery from the oasis (e.g. Eccleston 2006; Hope 1999; Patten 2000), the present study utilises new material that has come to light through excavations at Mut al-Kharab.
