| Abstract | This chapter argues that in intercultural education studies which claim to be critical, religion and spirituality need to be considered more substantially than they have tended to be so far. It argues that this inclusion is particularly important if one is to consider interculturality from a post-secular and less Western-centric perspective. Furthermore, it also argues that an unchallenged secular approach to teaching about interculturality may, unknowingly, limit opportunities for deep introspection and cultural analysis that is required for intercultural consciousness. |
