Summary: | Small Liberal Arts College (SLAC) is a small, private, liberal arts college in the Midwest. The college brought together students to participate in a 3-hour structured conversation/dialogue on racial literacy. The purpose of the dialogue was to create a campuswide dialogue to better understand how to support a more inclusive campus-for students from historically marginalized groups in particular. I (Roger) designed this experience to have individuals engage in processes designed to support their personal development. This includes developing racial literacy, creating greater understanding of the importance of identity and identity development, creating greater understanding of the needs of marginalized students, defining concrete steps all can take to demonstrate allyship, and encouraging the development of the competencies needed to move forward in a growth-minded manner. |
