Summary:The quality of teaching and learning has a direct bearing on key institutional issues, and since students are at the center of this matrix, their relationships carry substantial weight when considering the welfare of the school. When students enroll in college they assume, and should have every right to expect, the best-quality education possible. They expect their teachers to be knowledgeable about the subject matter and skilled in teaching it, they view their teachers as representatives of the institution and their most immediate contact persons, and they have no way of distinguishing between a full-time and a part-time instructor. They may not realize that so many of their instructors are the least connected to the school and the least knowledgeable about its culture.
