Summary: | It is legitimate to raise the question on whether it is realistic to be prepared in such an uncertain world as it is today. We have clear evidence that high-impact, low-probability events, such as pandemics and wars, suddenly materialise in a short period of time, if not in parallel, pushing individuals and entire nations into crises. While, on the one hand, we cannot prepare for such events, on the other, we can decrease the level of uncertainty. One way for doing this is to assess if we have "what we need" - namely, solutions that can help deal with a wide variety of crises. In this book, rich and evidence-based methodological, technical, and practical perspectives are provided to understand how potentially innovative solutions can be assessed by crisis management organisations. Ultimately, this edited collection offers the basis for a paradigm shift in assessing innovation in the crisis management domain. |
