Summary:Forensic imaging utilizes many of the basic principles that also apply to medical imaging. The fundamental principles of imaging and a primer of radiological technology for non-radiographers are detailed in Chapters 38 and 39. However, forensic imaging and, in particular, postmortem forensic imaging presents specific challenges to the radiographer which require adaptation of the basic techniques and principles. This chapter discusses the challenges presented in forensic situations and suggests possible strategies and techniques for overcoming problems encountered.
