Summary:Environmental concerns are receiving more attention as society moves toward more urbanization and industrialization. As a result, the release of dangerous and poisonous substances into the environment has generated intense concern throughout the world. Over the past couple of decades, different nanomaterials have been investigated for their potential to provide new solutions or to improve the effectiveness of current solutions to a wide range of important environmental challenges, ranging from water pollution to air pollution to climate change. The advancement of quantum dots (QDs) has gained a lot of interest because of its unique physical chemistry features, small size, good biocompatibility, ease of synthesis, etc. QDs are likely to have unique uses in a variety of environmental domains, in addition to their recognized applications in bioimaging, photocatalysis, and biochemical sensing, among other fields. Different synthesis methods and important characteristics of QD polymer-based composites are already discussed in the previous chapters. In this chapter, we will discuss the recent developments in the use of QD polymer composites for environmental pollution control and remediation. Furthermore, the difficulties and research directions for future environmental uses of QD polymer composites are described.
