A Novel Design Method of Class E/F Power Amplifier Based on Waveform Analysis

In this paper, a new design method of class E/F power amplifier (E/F PA) is proposed. Summary:In this paper, a new design method of class E/F power amplifier (E/F PA) is proposed. Under the conditions that the second harmonic is realized in the form of pure reactance and the third harmonic is short-circuited, a group of high-efficiency current and voltage waveforms of class E/F PA are found through waveform analysis. And the high-efficiency current and voltage expressions are deduced in detail. To verify the method, a PA operating at 3.2GHz is designed and fabricated. The tested power added efficiency (PAE) reaches 70.5% with the output power of 41.2dBm at an input power of 30dBm.
