Summary: | LED systems play an important role in general purpose lighting. Nowadays, LEDs become a commonly used solid-state lighting source in street lighting systems. They must be used with power electronics technology to ensure the performance requirements and to avoid additional power losses. For indoor use, internal drivers are included in LED bulbs in order to make them easy for Compact Fluorescent Lamp or incandescent replacement. For outdoor use, external drivers with certain fixtures are required for LEDs operation. In both cases, the LED driver is now typically the most expensive element in a solid-state lighting (SSL) product. This work aims to analyze and design a driver for 50 W LED street lighting system based on DC/DC boost converter. In addition, a simulation is conducted during the stage of design. |
