Summary:The demand of high-speed data rate is increasing day by day. It requires a reliable transmission system with high throughput, capacity and efficiency. Also, reduced BER, low power consumption and promise of ubiquitous accessibility and seamless global mobility are the main objectives and challenges for wireless systems. The performance of a wireless system is degraded due to various factors like multipath scattering, fading, interference etc. Many researcher shave been working for this and a promising technology meant for 5G has been developed for wireless communication that be known as multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) systems. In this paper, we have discussed various schemes and algorithms that have been developed over the years for increasing transmission capacity, reliability and throughput and reducing the interference and complexity for mobile radio system. A comparative study of these techniques for different parameters of MIMO systems is presented.
