Summary:In this study, target identification by millimeter-wave radar has been studied for Traffic monitoring systems. Doppler frequency is one of the key parameters for target identification by radar. Time-frequency analysis can be performed by applying short-time Fourier transform to radar data, thereby we can see difference of periodicity in Doppler frequency. However, it is difficult to distinguish small or no periodicity targets such as bicycles and cars. In this paper, we show spectrogram for each target by applying short-time Fourier transform in slow time direction to experimental data acquired by millimeter-wave FM-CW radar. Then we show that target identification can be done by calculating mean and standard deviation of target velocity.
