Summary: | Increased emphasis has been given to the solution of data base management and information retrieval problems through the use of new hardware architectures. These architectures have included front end/back end organizations, logic in memory, associative memory/array processors, special function architectures and computers developed solely for the handling of data. In this paper a brief overview of some of these architectures is given. The paper is concluded with the author's opinion as to progress in the field during the next ten years. |
