Summary: | This paper presents a novel rotor structure of interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) using rare earth and ferrite magnets for some concerns about future supplies of materials. In this IPMSM, the total volume of Nd-Fe-B magnets can be reduced by 58 % compared with a basic IPMSM model. We analyzed motor characteristics such as the torque, efficiency, stress in the rotor, and demagnetization of permanent magnets by the three-dimensional finite element method (3D-FEM). According to simulation results, the torque and efficiency in the proposed IPMSM are better than those of the basic IPMSM model. |
