Summary:We design a model following optimal multivariable boiler-turbine H/sub /spl infin// control system which has robust stability to a modeling error and satisfactory command tracking performance in spite of nonlinearity of the system. This boiler-turbine H/sub /spl infin// control system is designed by applying a genetic algorithm (GA) to the optimal determination of the weighting functions W/sub 1/(s), W/sub 2/(s), and the design parameter /spl gamma/ that are given by Glover-Doyle algorithm. To follow the output of the reference model optimally, these are optimized simultaneously in the search domain which guarantees the robust stability of the system. The effectiveness of this boiler-turbine H/sub /spl infin// control system is verified and compared with that of boiler-turbine LQG/LTR control system by computer simulation.
