Summary:In this paper, we consider orthogonal/turbo-codes for mobile asynchronous DS-CDMA communications. First, we investigate the performance of turbo-codes with perfect channel state information and without channel state information in AWGN and BSC channels. Then turbo-codes are applied to noncoherent M-ary orthogonal modulation in multipath fading channels. It is shown that due to channel memory introduced by multipath fading and multiple access interference noise, the performance of turbo-codes degraded two orders. Another result is that turbo-codes prefer hard decision to optimum hard decision which is not the case in convolutional codes.
