Summary:The structured singular value (SSV or /spl mu/) is a reasonable tool for robustness analysis of control systems with structured uncertainties. However, analysis by using /spl mu/ generally needs complicated computations. In this paper, we show that computing /spl mu/ of a special class of matrices, that is reciprocal, is not so complicated. The bounds of /spl mu/ of reciprocal matrices are easily calculated in comparison with general matrix cases. Reciprocity is extensive notion of symmetry, which can be seen in the so-called collocated mechanical systems. It is shown that robust performance tests for such reciprocal systems are also simple.
