Summary:The article addresses the issue of congestion in transmission pathways for new energy sources and introduces a hybrid power flow controller based on the cascaded H-bridge. This controller effectively achieves precise control over the power flow of the line by continuously adjusting the phase angles of voltage and current on both sides. Additionally, starting from the topology and equivalent circuit of the hybrid power flow controller, the characteristic of equal current amplitude during normal operation is derived, and a differential protection criterion based on amplitude is proposed. Finally, simulations of faults at different locations were conducted to verify the effectiveness of this protection strategy.
