Summary: | A practical requirement based on a specific feed network has been addressed for a two-element microstrip sub- array. This indeed replaces aperture coupled feed by a corporate probe as commonly recommended for large array geometry. The configuration embodies strategic engineering with ground plane as well as microstrip element geometry to achieve high polarization purity over the entire radiation planes. The proposed design at S-band promises a commercial viability with an overall XP reduction by 7 dB over skewed/diagonal (D-) planes and approximately 10-12 dB across the H-plane, while minimally affecting primary radiation or gain values. |
