Summary:We present a study of a digital one-dimensional median filter for the removal of noise and prediction of data loss in frequency transfer applications. The median filter was implemented in an optical frequency transmission system where a 10 MHz signal from an atomic clock was transmitted over a 15 km optical fiber cable. We studied the noise filtering, data prediction, and stabilities, of the filter for different filter window sizes.
