Summary:The development of renewable energy sources is a priority both for the Republic of Moldova and internationally. The Republic of Moldova is 80% dependent on the import of electricity, which has led the decision-makers to adopt policies to support the development of renewable energy sources. In Moldova there are 3 support schemes for renewable energy producers. One of the support schemes is net metering intended for consumers to cover their own electricity consumption. Correct sizing of the photovoltaic system is a decisive factor for the investment recovery period. The paper includes an analysis regarding the choice of the photovoltaic system installed power for different types of consumers in the Republic of Moldova, using a main criteria coverage of the own electricity consumption. The data reflected in this paper are based on real cases, measured and collected from potential beneficiaries of photovoltaic systems.
