Summary:As an important electrical equipment in power system, the temperature monitoring of transformer has always been one of the research focuses of on-line monitoring of electrical equipment. However, at present, most of the measurement of transformer temperature is difficult to realize the in-situ monitoring of its internal high temperature area. With the advancement of distributed optical fiber sensing technologies, optical fibers are tiny and resistant to electromagnetic interference, making them ideal for internal monitoring of electrical equipment. Thus, in this research, the optical fiber transformer is created by winding the optical fiber outside the transformer winding, and the internal temperature of the transformer is determined using Brillouin scattering optical time domain analysis technology. The measured temperature data from the temperature increase test are obtained, confirming the approach's practicality and significantly improving the ability to feel the transformer's interior temperatures.
