Summary:In the quest to enhance the performance, sustainability, and occupant well-being of buildings, this study presents a novel methodology for assessing the impact of digital services in the built environment. Central to our approach is the establishment of a robust framework that meticulously defines Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across several critical dimensions, including energy efficiency, Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ), economic impact, and the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI). This framework underpins the auditing of real pilot projects, which includes an in-depth evaluation of existing systems and the strategic identification of required modifications to facilitate data collection and service development. Furthermore, we emphasize the importance of data quality across various dimensions-accuracy, completeness, reliability, consistency, and timeliness-ensuring that the foundation of our assessment is built on reliable and relevant information. By implementing a structured measurement and verification plan, we lay the groundwork for quantifying the benefits of digital service implementations. This work is distinguished by its application to real-world pilot projects, showcasing its effectiveness in fostering sustainable innovations. Through this comprehensive approach, we aim to provide actionable insights that empower stakeholders in the building sector to make informed decisions, ultimately contributing to the sustainable transformation of the built environment.
