Summary: | Presently, there is an increasing number of patients that are treated in‐home, way during the transition to medical, mainly in countries such as the US, Europe, and Japan. Also, the number of old‐age and children's cases has increased significantly in the last 15–20 years, and these masses are often treated in‐home, during the transition and at times enter into a critical situation that may require assistance. A smart surveillance system for patients is currently an emerging subject in real‐time for healthcare in remote locations. In patients’ surveillance systems, sensor devices have an important function to communicate, collect data, and analyze it for real‐time applications. The precondition of the patient can be supervised and analyzed by utilizing the various body sensors, such as SpO2 (oxygen saturation), pulse, acceleration, and temperature. Sensors can be used to collect data from the patient's body and send it to a remote location for analysis. This data can be utilized in the real‐time application for monitoring the patients in a remote location. This article discusses state‐of‐art technologies that have been offered in the literature for smart surveillance systems for patients. It also offers a new architecture for a patient surveillance system that utilizes the concept of IoT (Internet of Things) and WSNs (wireless sensor networks). The proposed architecture and model acts as a surveillance system to supervise the patients with a closed‐loop alarm, which further helps the interested authorities to take any necessary, immediate actions. |
