Charles Cox (a native of Derbyshire) is "Rev. J. Charles Cox, LL.D., F.S.A.", the "F.S.A." standing for "Fellow of the Royal Society of Antiquaries." He is referred to as "the Rev. Dr. Cox" in text quoted on p. viii of the preface to his book "Three centuries of Derbyshire annals" (1890).
