Summary:This paper was inspired by the possibility of studying the contributions of Popular Education to the re-organization of Primary Health Care (PHC). A qualitative study was conducted with users and health providers of a Family Health Service in the urban area of Rio Negro, Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil. Data was obtained using interviews, field diaries, photo archives, audio, video, publications, reports and blog information. Our findings highlighted an evolution in the health care process, humanization of the relationship between health care providers and patients, as well as in the understanding of providing PHC and professional satisfaction. We concluded that Popular Education is coherent and positive for achieving the objectives of the Family Health Strategy. Keywords: Popular Education. Primary Health Care. Family Health. Health promotion. O que motivou a elaboracao deste artigo foi a possibilidade de investigar a contribuicao da Educacao Popular a reorganizacao da Atencao Primaria a Saude (APS). Realizouse uma pesquisa qualitativa com usuarios e profissionais de uma Unidade de Saude da Familia da area urbana de Rio Negro, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brasil. Os dados foram obtidos por meio de entrevistas, diarios de campo, arquivos de fotografias, audio, video, publicacoes, relatorios e informacoes de um blog. A analise dos dados evidenciou evolucao no processo de cuidado, humanizacao das relacoes entre profissionais e usuarios, compreensao do fazer em APS e satisfacao profissional, constatando que a Educacao Popular e coerente e positiva para a Estrategia Saude da Familia atingir seus pressupostos. Lo que motivo la elaboracion de este articulo fue la posibilidad de investigar la contribucion de la Educacion Popular para la reorganizacion de la Atencion Primaria en Salud (APS). Se realizo un estudio cualitativo con usuarios y funcionarios en una Unidad de Salud de la Familia de la zona urbana de Rio Negro, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brasil. Los datos se obtuvieron por medio de entrevistas, diarios de campo, archivos fotograficos, audio, video, publicaciones, informes e informaciones de un blog. El analisis de los datos mostro una evolucion en el proceso de cuidado, humanizacion de las relaciones entre profesionales y usuarios, asi como comprension del modo de hacer en la APS y satisfaccion profesional. Se constato que la influencia de la Educacion Popular es coherente y positiva para que la Estrategia de Salud de la Familia pueda lograr sus objetivos. Palabras clave: Educacion Popular.
