Summary:Environmental perception within informal education environments, such as zoos, may be a way to assess the needs and possible difficulties that these environments have to produce a direct interaction with the public. In fact, they convey information that will foster a critical and ethical sense which at the same time is also environmentally friendly. Current article studies the environmental perception of zoo visitors in Brasilia State, Brazil, where their perception about the information that the zoo intends to transfer is assessed, coupled to what they should do and for some reason could not. There is a main interest in knowing the origin of the animals and their final destination. It became clear that visitors did not know exactly the zoo's functions. It is necessary that clearer practices and unrestricted access are conducted on the zoo premises, which will result in more informed visitors, environmentally educated and potential agents active within the conservation of biodiversity. A percepcao ambiental dentro de ambientes nao formais de ensino, como e o caso dos zoologicos, pode ser uma forma de se avaliar as necessidades e possiveis dificuldades que esses ambientes tenham para interagir diretamente com o publico de forma a transmitir informacoes que irao fomentar um senso critico e etico ambientalmente correto. Nesse sentido, o artigo trata de um estudo de percepcao ambiental de visitantes do Zoo de Brasilia, onde foi avaliado sobre a percepcao desses a respeito das informacoes que o zoo se propoe a repassar, como tambem sobre as que deveriam e por algum motivo sao falhas. Percebeu-se, principalmente, que existe o interesse de se saber a origem dos animais, bem como seu destino final, alem de ficar claro que os visitantes nao sabem exatamente qual o exercicio de um zoologico. Nesse sentido, torna-se necessario que praticas mais claras e de acesso irrestrito sejam realizadas nas dependencias do zoologico, o que ira acarretar em visitantes mais informados, ambientalmente educados e potenciais agentes atuantes na conservacao da biodiversidade.
