Summary:Studies were performed on a farm on Black-and-White cows. The experiment covered 50 breeding cows which were kept in a bound maintenance system in medium and long boxes, which produced an average of 6,800 liters of milk in 305 days, and whose average age was 5.5 years (from 3 to 8 years). Blood was taken for the studies by puncturing the jugular vein. All analyses were performed with fresh samples of non-hemolyzed blood serum. Glycaemia in experimental cows was on the average 2.89 +- 0.38 mmol/l and was significantly higher in comparison with values in control group (2.63 +- 0.37 mmol/l). Cortisol concentration in the experimental group was on the average 26.54 +- 30.16 nmol/l (i.e. 7.8 - 114.0 nmol/l) and it was significantly higher in comparison with the control group of cows (12.41 +- 10.99 nmol/l).
