Summary:If wheat is fertilized with over 180 kg N/ha in soils of high effective fertility in eastern Croatia (Yugoslavia), distribution of nitrogen in nutritions and the number of nutritions is of minor importance and wheat fertilization can be simplified. Response of some wheat varieties to increased quantity of nitrogen supplied by fertilization is specific and this requires research on the variety level. Reduction of the number of nutritions with the application of larger nitrogen quantities supplied in form of urea before sowing or during basic cultivation requires more attention and supplementary investigation. Possibilities of fertilization economizing exist, but they require more thorough investigation.
