Summary:In last several years biodiesel obtained a very observed place in research in the World and in Yugoslavia. The gravitation toward energetic independence and freedom is a promoting force which besides the knowledge about finish of sources of fosil fuels was giving sufficient impulses to development of that source of energy. The requirements set to adapt the fuel to the engine led to biodiesel as a fuel which could substitute the reference diesel fuel from the fossil sources. That was proved by numerous investigations in the World and in Yugoslavia. Ecological aspect is very important and it was found that such kind of fuel much less contaminates the soil, water and air and eliminates to a great extend the accumulation of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere also, and by that it diminishes the effect of glasshouse.
