Summary:In this paper, two new varieties of garden pea, created and developed in Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad (Serbia, Yugoslavia) are presented. Both varietal hybrids were admitted by Federal Ministry of Agriculture (Commision for Registration of Crop Varieties) in 1999 and named Vites and Tamis. In Commision's three year trial these newly released varieties produced considerably higher yields (Vitez 10.95 t/ha and Tamis 11.04 t/ha), better quality and better health condition than the standard cultivars. They were also better regarding most of the other characters, such as growing season length, grain mass, plant height and other morphological characteristics.
