Summary: | Field experiment was established in Pancevo area, Serbia (Yugoslavia) in October 1998, on the soil belonging to the humogley soil type. This soil could be marked as fertile, but with relatively worst physical properties. Set up of the experiment (cultivar Mitsham) assumed randomized block system in three repetitions and applied dosages of nitrogen of 0-200 kg/ha, along with the constant quantities of phosphor (80 kg/ha) and potassium (50 kg/ha). During the spring 1999 plants were cared according to the common agronomic practice. The first harvest has been accomplished in three phases. The first one includes incompletely blossomed plants, the second one plants in full flowering, and the last one over-blossomed plants. The application of 150 kg N/ha from mineral fertilizer had the significant influence on the increase of the yield of peppermint's dry leaves and herb. Phases of the harvest have more significant influence on the mint oil chemical composition then on its content in leaves. However, increase doses of nitrogen fertilizer has more remarkable influence on the oil yield (kg/ha) then to its composition. The highest yield of the oil of 57.39 kg/ha was achieved in the var. 5, where 150 kg/ha was applied. Doses of N over 150 kg/ha has neither influence on the increase of yield of leaves per hectare, nor on the yield of the oil per hectare. |
