The breeding of snails in a controlled environment. 2: Experimental trial: summer rearing of the Helix pomatia and of the Helix aspersa fed with a dry complete diet

A breeding trial was carried out over a period of 114 days, on 25 Helix pomatia (4 years old) and on 87 yearling Helix aspersa. The results concerning the mortality and the live weight variation, showed the good adaptability of the Helix aspersa to this kind of production. The good feed intake obtained by the snails during the trial, confirmed the acceptability of the dry complete diet. E stata condotta una prova di allevamento in ambienta artificiale, della durata di 144 giorni, su 25 H. pomatia di quattro anni di eta e su 87 H. aspersa di un anno. I dati riguardanti la mortalita e l'andamento del peso vivo hano dimostrato il buon adattamento delle H. aspersa a questo tipo di allevamento. I consumi alimentari registrati nel corso della prova hanno infine confermato la buona appetibilita del mangime composto integrato impiegato.
