Radiosensitivity of soybean (Glycine Max L. Merrill), 2: effect of gamma-rays on varieties Bragg
The radiosensitivity of two soybean varieties, Bragg and Lee - 74 was measured in the M1 generation in terms of the reduction of seedling height, plant height, survival at maturity, potten fertility, frequency of fertile plants and number of fruits per plant. All of the characters showed negative co...

Summary: | The radiosensitivity of two soybean varieties, Bragg and Lee - 74 was measured in the M1 generation in terms of the reduction of seedling height, plant height, survival at maturity, potten fertility, frequency of fertile plants and number of fruits per plant. All of the characters showed negative correlations with the gamma-rays doses. LD50 and RD50 values for all characters excepting seedling height were higher in Bragg than in Lee - 74, indicating that Bragg is somewhat more radiosensitive than Lee - 74. However, from the available data it is suggested that gamma-ray doses ranging between 20 and 30 KR would be optional for both varieties in a mutation breeding programme. |
