Summary:This study was carried out to determine the composition of parasite species and its infection rate on Day fish cultured in Thua Thien - Hue. Ten species of parasite belonging 9 genus, 9 families, 9 orders, 7 classes and 4 phylum was identified from 600 examines fish with three stages: larvae, fingerling and mature in which the grow-out fish was cultured in both condition freshwater and brackish water. The identified parasites were Ichthyophthyrius multifiliis, Myxobolus koi, Trichodina jadranica, Dactylogyrus minutus, Dactylogyrus magnihamatus, Gyrodactylus ctenopharyngodontis, Metacercaria stage of Centrocestus formosanus, Aspidogaster limecoides, Argulus japonicus, Alitropus typus. The composition of infected parasitic species on fish was different according to the development stage of fish and culture environment. Number of parasitic species infected on larval was 3 species compared with 4 species infected on fingerling and 4 species on grow-out fish in freshwater and 6 species on brackish water. Skin, gill and intestine system was mostly parasitized by parasites. At the stage of larval and fingerling, the infection rate of parasite on gill was higher than its on skin. On gill, the prevalence of ectozoit parasite was 32.7% at larvae stage and 39.3% at fingerling stage while at grow - out stage in both freshwater and brackish water this figure was higher (66.7% and 56% respectively). The prevalence of entozoic parasite on intestinal system of Day fish culturing in brackish water was 15.3%. Among of the ten species, the most heavily infection rate (number of parasite/fish) of the monocellular parasitic group was Ichthyophyrius multififliis and the lowest was Trichodina jidrannica with 3.7 and 1.5 respectively . Within the multicellular group, the highest infection rate of parasite was Aspidogaster limacoides which infect on the intestine system of grow out fish culturing in brackish water (6.4 parasites/fish). The next were Argulus japonicus and Alitrpus typus which parasitized on skin of grow out fish with 3.9 parasites/fish and 1. parasites/ fish respectively.
