Summary:The project on research and development of vegetable varieties had been carried out for 5 year from 2001- 2005 and solved some following problems: Nearly 300 lines, varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers and dozens varieties of vegetables have been collected and maintained. These varieties are valuable genetic materials for vegetables selection. Six promising varieties of tomatoes, cucumbers have been crossed, selected and introduced into production: C95 tomato variety (approved nationally in 2004), F1 hybrid tomato VT3 (temporary approved in 2004), tomato C155, C135, C155 (temporary approved in June 2006) have high yield, good quality and fairly resistant ability which are cultivated and developed to make contribution in the increase in yield, quality and economical effectiveness of crop cultivation system in Red river Delta region
