Summary:This paper reported the results of soil environment state in term of physic-co chemical characteristics in peri-urban area, where soil is suspected to be contaminate by city wastes and industrial activities. After 4 years of monitoring and analysing in peri-urban area of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City results showed that: (l) Eutropication in this area is indicated by high Electrical Conductivity, Total Soluble Salts, pH, Ca, Na, and available Phosphorus, Nitrogen in NH4 and NO3 form. Somehow, the eutrophication in parallel to alcalinization. (2) Soil is probable contaminate by Cd in Thanh Tri and Binh Chanh and in Cr in Binh Chanh. In this area, Pb and in are accumulated but still lower than critical level according to canadian recommendation. It seems that Cu content and others heavy sensitive metals in soils are lower far from critical points. It is urged that a Vietnam recommendation and environment indicators for soil quality should be studied and formulated in the day coming.
