Summary:Extract: In 1970, Michigan State University initiated TELPLAN, a computer-assisted management system using touchtone telephone terminals. In 1971, an agreement between the two universities was reached, and Illinois began operating touchtone terminals connected to the Michigan State TELPLAN system in September of that year. The Illinois system was designated Computer-assisted Management Program in Illinois (CAMPI) and was initially considered to be a pilot program. The purpose of this paper is to describe the procedures used and the results achieved by introducing CAMPI in Illinois. Data pertaining to patterns of usage and cost are presented, and the results of user surveys are discussed
