Summary:Standardized analysis methods were used by a single central laboratory to provide data quality control in the examination of blood specimens from about 9500 patients. Blood analyses assessed levels of various chemical components (albumin, bilirubin, calcium, creatinine, chloride, cholesterol, glucose, lipids, potassium, sodium, protein, urea nitrogen, and uric acid) and enzymes (alkaline phosphatase, aspartate transaminase, creatine kinase, and lactate dehydrogenase). Casual, fasting, and 1-hour postload glucose levels were separately determined. The results of analyses for each of these blood components are presented separately by race (white and black), sex, and age group in 19 tables. Four age groups are used: 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60-69. Conclusions are given for each of the 19 data tables. (wz)
